345 San Shi Go - Sushi & Sake in Laguna Beach
On the second floor of the Village Faire building in Laguna Beach, California, is a cozy hidden sushi and Saki haven. My friends often call me a “sushi snob” because rarely do I venture beyond my regular favorite Japanese restaurants such as Nobu and Roku in Los Angeles. When my friend suggested we dine at his favorite Sushi restaurant in Laguna Beach, I was skeptical and later convinced to give it a try.
At first, the location of the restaurant and printed menu failed to impress me; immediately after taking my first bite, it became apparent, you dine here for the simple love of sushi. If you sit at the bar and ask chef Tacu to prepare his specialty sashimi creations of halibut, yellow tail, and tuna, you too will be glad you tried this restaurant.
The oysters were a pleasant surprise! Their baked halibut was sinfully delightful as it melted in my mouth seconds after consumption. End your order with the shrimp boat: it is a visual amusement and a special finally to your dining experience. Next time in Laguna Beach, give this restaurant a try…I was glad I did.
