Crazy about Van Dyke’s Waffles

by Anja

UPDATE 2015: UNFORTUNATELY THE ICONIC VAN DYKE HAS CLOSED ITS BUSINESS ON LINCOLN ROAD. WE'RE GOING TO MISS IT DEEPLY.

Van Dyke is another of my long cherished breakfast and lunch places in Miami. I don’t know exactly for how long this Lincoln Road restaurant has been around, but several years for sure. Back then, when I lived in Miami Van Dyke was my regular Sunday brunch place. I can’t say what I like most about this place – the relaxed atmosphere, its prominent location on Lincoln Road (people watching included), or its food. Everything served is fresh and flavorful.

I got into the habit of ordering their waffles with the banana and strawberry topic. They are just so good - always hot and fresh, a little chewy on the inside and just right in flavor.

So, this time around, we ended up having breakfast at Van Dyke several times and the waffles became the favorite order at our table. Even our guys, who usually don’t get all too excited about food (for them, it’s more about cars and bikes, check out Carlos’ blog), fell in love with the Van Dyke’s waffles and couldn’t stop raving. So, if you get to Miami Beach one day, make sure to give them a try! They are something special.

  1. Yes, it is a fun place for people watching. I've never gotten the waffles (I love their cheese blintzes!), but will give them a try. They look delicious.
