Christmas Baking - Christmas Making #1

by Anja

The season is here, time to bake, make, enjoy. In the next few weeks I'll share with you some ideas - what to make or bake - as Christmas gifts or just for yourself.

I'll start with the chai sirup I just made.
I tried two different recipes, Dani's (flowers on my plate) & Julia's (chestnut & sage). I liked both, though I have to say my first choice is Dani's, because it uses less sugar and hence is not so sweet. On the other hand, next time I may just use a little less sugar in Julia's recipe to adapt it to my not-so-sweet tooth.

I am sure there are many more great chai sirup recipes out there. Just try one you like. It makes an easy, yet wonderful gift. Enjoy it in some hot milk (or hot homemade almond milk*) and you've got yourself a wonderful chai latte for a lazy winter afternoon.

I also started my Christmas baking - my first cookies of the season were Marianne & Kate's Cranberry Christmas Delights - scrumptious! They didn't even last two days...

I also got started on making Christmas jam - first my spiced berry jam.

More to come, so stay tuned!

* Homemade almond milk: soak 1 cup of organic almonds in water overnight. The next day, put almonds and 4 cups of fresh water into a blender and blend for a minute. Put through a fine mesh strainer and store in a glass bottle (or other container) in the fridge for up to 3 days.
